A Discovery Home Companion is an unfiltered look at Star Trek: Discovery, a new  Star Trek for a new era of television, set in an older era before Kirk and Spock.  Will it be great, or will it be disappointing? Three close friends will approach the show with open hearts and critical minds. Oh, and it turns out we'll end up yelling at each other sometimes.

Before the release of Star Trek Discovery on CBS All Access on September 24th Wade, James, and Hugh talk a little about what they know.

The history of how this new Star Trek came about, from the Paramount/CBS split to the split between original showrunner Bryan Fuller and CBS.

What are the fans concerns?  What is Canon? And most importantly: What is up with the Klingons?

Who are the showrunners and producers brought on in the aftermath of Fuller's departure?  Just how much confidence does everyone have with the ouvres of Alex Kurtzman and Akiva Goldsman?

But really, we are optimistic. Everyone wants to do right by Trek.

And finally... what's this show called The Orville?  Will it be serialized?
